Miyavi Dictionary
Due'le Quartz:
[dyuu-lu-kwoatsu] n. Miyavi's first band under the PSC label, in which Miyavi (then known as "Miyabi") played guitar along with Sakito (Vo.), Kikasa (Ba.), and Kazuki (Dr.).
Ishihara Gundan:
[ee-shee-ha-ra goon-dawn] n. the group of musicians and performers who act as Miyavi's stage band, playing the music to his songs while he sings and performs them on stage. Because Miyavi is a solo artist, they are essential to his live performances. But Miyavi loves to joke with them on and off stage.
current members:
- Ken-ken (guitar)
- Masa (guitar)
- Yuchinosuke (bass)
- Mako (drums)
LFX:
[eru-efu-ekusu] n. an online radio station in which Miyavi was a regular guest every Wednesday from 19:30 ~ 20:10 (Japanese time). His last show as a regular guest was March 29th, 2006.
(note: Miyavi's song "Yappari Megumi ga Suki" was co-written by Yoshida Naoki, one of the radio show hosts on LFX, to Yoshida's wife Megumi.)
Manager:
n. Michitoshi Saitoh (commonly referred to as "Saichon" by Miyavi) is Miyavi's personal artist manager, assigned to him by the PS Company. They are very close, like best friends, although Saitoh is often on the receiving end of Miyavi's jokes and cracks.
Record Label:
n. a trade name of a company that coordinates the production, manufacture, distribution, promotion, and enforcement of copyright protection of sound recordings and music videos (also called: "label"). They are also responsible for protecting and managing the artists who write and/or perform the music, although conditions vary depending on the contracts between the company and the artist. Record companies and music publishers that are not under the control of the big four are generally considered to be independent (indie), even if they are large corporations with complex structures. Independent labels are typically artist-owned (although not always), with a declared focus usually on making good music and not necessarily on the business aspects of the industry or making lots of money. Because of this, independent artists usually receive less radio play and sell fewer CDs than artists signed to major labels. Artists usually start out in an independent label (Miyavi's was PS Company) and as they grow in popularity, they move onto major labels (Miyavi's is Universal). Althought PSC still runs a lot of Miyavi's business, Universal has enabled him to really grow exponentially as a person in the entertainment business.
